New Moon Productions’ Musical Theatre Creation Workshop is an enriching and life affirming music & theatre education program. This program was visualized, created, and brought to life by Michael Wehrli (theatre professional) and Kristina Armetta (retired professional opera singer & teacher) several years ago. The basic purpose of this moving and educational program is to guide children (generally ages 10 to 17) in the creation and production of an original music theatre performance piece based on an idea or issue that is deeply felt by the students.
Each student will write text, compose music, explore movement and perform theatrically. Past topics include, “the inherent worth and dignity of every person”, Care of the Environment, and others.
This program can also be used as a great fund-raiser for your organization!
What makes this program so unique? The personal empowerment aspect and the complete ownership of the finished theatrical piece by the students – something that doesn’t exist in the average theatre camp experience. No where else is there a program where the participating students write the script (based on issues and ideas that are important to them), create their own character, create the music and songs, suggest the staging, and perform this piece for the public.
In conjunction with all this are the educational and mentorship aspects of the program. The instructors gently guide the students to fully understanding the ideas and issues they are writing about. Furthermore, the students are taken on a journey of discovery to expand their existing talents in the areas of acting, singing, music, and movement. The entire process encourages the students to grow as young human beings through an inspiring artistic endeavor.

Our Workshop Packages Include:
Summer Camps
Two weeks, Monday through Fridays, 9am-3pm (6 hours each day).
After-School Workshop
Two weeks, Saturdays & Sundays 10am-4pm (6 hours),Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 6-9pm.
One Week Intensive Workshop
Sunday 10am-5pm, Mon.-Fri. 9am-5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm.
Two performances are done the evening of the last day of the workshop or camp (for the Summer Camp, they could also be done that weekend).
Times & days are flexible for all of the workshop formats.
This program is flexible and can be catered to the needs of your students
or organization:
- If you wish to have the students focus on a particular issue or idea for the writing
- If you would like the program to run at different times or days
- If you would like to focus on a particular age group
- If you would even like to have a longer and more in-depth program
We will work with you and specifically tailor the program to what best suits your organization and students.
